Developing Critical Thinking

Free Resources and Worksheets

Coming in June 2026!!!

Critical thinking skills are essential for helping children and teenagers navigate a world filled with information, distractions, and rapid change. Learning how to analyze information, solve problems, evaluate evidence, question assumptions, and make thoughtful decisions lays the foundation for academic success, media literacy, responsible behavior, and lifelong learning. Research shows that strong critical thinking skills improve children’s ability to focus, reason, communicate effectively, and distinguish facts from misinformation — one of the most important skills in today’s digital world.

Critical thinking is not just a school skill; it is a core life skill. Young people who learn to think critically become more independent, more curious, and more confident in their ability to handle challenges. They learn how to look at problems from multiple perspectives, recognize biases, compare sources, and come to well-reasoned conclusions — abilities that support success in every subject, from science and math to reading, social studies, and everyday decision-making.

On this page, you’ll find free GrowHumans worksheets, problem-solving activities, and higher-order thinking tools designed for five age groups, from preschoolers to older adolescents. Our materials are research-based, practical, and easy to use at home, in classrooms, or in counseling and youth programs.

You can use these resources to help children develop key critical thinking skills, including:

  • Analyzing information and identifying key ideas,

  • Asking meaningful questions and exploring multiple viewpoints,

  • Recognizing assumptions, biases, and misleading information,

  • Comparing evidence and evaluating sources (media literacy),

  • Creative thinking, flexible thinking, and problem-solving,

  • Logical reasoning and making informed decisions.

Developing critical thinking skills empowers children to become independent thinkers who can understand the world more clearly, solve problems more effectively, and make smarter, responsible choices throughout life.
